AT's Showdown Building Wrap Up!

by Casey Groves

It’s been a real long week building the course and I couldn’t have done it without Casey Groves and Greg Watts. Luckily this year the Grand National Rodeo was the weekend before our event so the guys from the Rodeo moved the dirt into place for us unlike last year, and it saved us a lot of build time. We started building the course last Saturday and completed it today. Some of the riders who showed up early got to test out the course and by the looks of it everyone was stoked. It’s so rad to see a course you designed in your head come to real life and work and if Greg Watts can flip his mini on the jumps (video of this feat inside!), you know we'll be killing it on our bikes this weekend.

It’s going to be a good weekend!

Casey Groves – I arrived in Santa Cruz last Friday. AT picked me up from the airport and took me to get settled in at his house. Saturday morning we went to San Francisco for our first official build day of the showdown. After roughing out the landings, the course was shaping up. Today we have a rad crew of riders out there lending a hand to finish up the course. THE COURSE IS DONE! Once the weather cooled off everyone got their bikes and started to work in the course so we could get all the little quirks out to make sure it's dialed and top notch. I have to say, I have been to every contest in Canada and the USA and no course can match up to AT’s Showdown! The drops/jumps reach up to 35 foot gaps with 7 foot lips. It's super nice to see big jumps at a contest, other events should take a look and learn. Personally I think that AT’s Showdown is WAY under rated and could easily make a GOLD event on the FMBA World Tour! I'm Stoked, all the riders are stoked and AT’s happy, so we couldn’t be happier! Day 1……is a close, Tomorrow is practice and it's going to go off! Yeeeeooooooo!

I agree with Casey, they should make it a gold event on the FMBA World Tour! at the showdown there's some gnarly riding going down!

f*ck's wrong with these kids, full face and knee pads should be mandatory at every event. Other than that, this shit is tight!

AT Showdown is part of the SF-Bike-Expo. it cost $10-$12 to get in. it is full day schedule. not only the AT competition (although this is the highlight for many people)
